01 — The part most people get wrong

Bone is living tissue. It is rebuilding itself right now.

Most people picture the skeleton as scaffolding — inert, finished, something you inherited and are stuck with. It isn't. Bone is active tissue with its own blood supply, and it is being taken apart and rebuilt continuously. You replace a meaningful share of your skeleton every year.

That has one important consequence: bone is not a number you're stuck with. It is a *response* to what you ask of it. Ask nothing, and the body — which is relentlessly efficient — stops paying to maintain tissue it has no use for. That's not a disease process. That's your body doing exactly what it was designed to do with the information you're giving it.

Which means the useful question is not "how bad is my score?" It's "what am I actually asking my skeleton to do?"

You aren't stuck with your skeleton. You're negotiating with it.
